About Us
Our Mission
Rose and Sooy Counseling is a group of open-minded clinicians who provide therapeutic services to middle Tennessee and surrounding areas; supporting clients' exploration of their goals and values, as they work towards healing and self-acceptance. We are inclusive and affirming to all races, bodies, religions, genders, and sexualities; offering a safe and warm space for individuals who oftentimes don’t feel safe to be themselves in the south. We utilize evidence based practices and collaboration with clients, community resources, and colleagues to ensure that we provide the most effective treatments available.
Our Values
Inclusive
We stand in solidarity against injustice, systemic racism, homophobia, sexism and all other forms of structural oppression. We are committed to providing a safe space for all of our clients, including those who identify as transgender, non-binary, gender non-confirming and/or BIPOC. We consider everyone’s ability to make decisions about their health, bodies and sexual life to be a basic human right. We welcome and celebrate diversity in our clients and colleagues in all capacities including race, culture, ethnicity, class, religion, health, body size, physical ability, age, gender, and sexual orientation.
Affirming
We are passionate about providing a safe and affirming space, specifically for folks who oftentimes don’t feel safe living in the south. We acknowledge that our clients are people first, and that any disability or diagnosis that they may have is a part of who they are, not their whole identity. We acknowledge that neurodiverse folks often find that they have a very different experience in the world from people who are neurotypical and this difference is worth honoring and exploring. We are body positive, feminist, sex, kink, and ethical non-monogamy friendly, and trauma informed.
Collaborative
As therapists, we are an active participant in the therapy process and utilize a collaborative and relational process to help our clients discover a deeper understanding of themselves. While we provide clinical expertise, we also acknowledge that our clients are the experts on themselves, their values and their culture. We collaborate with our clients by listening and using respect, honesty, curiosity, nonjudgement and accountability. We agree to strive to always meet our clients where they are at and work together to help make key decisions about their treatment.

How can I schedule a session?Use the contact form to schedule a free phone consultation or email us directly at support@roseandsooy.com.
-
What is a consultation call?A consultation call is a 15 minute phone call to answer any lingering questions you may have and identify next steps. The therapist will ask you to share a little about yourself and what you are looking for in therapy. The therapist will discuss their approach to counseling and answer any questions you have about their therapeutic style and process. Keep in mind consult calls are not a therapy session, so therapeutic advice will not be provided. If both parties feel like it’s a good fit, you will be provided with next steps and scheduled for an intake session.
-
What happens in the first session? The first session is your intake session and will entail a lot of questions. Your therapist will ask you questions about yourself, your history and background, what you have been experiencing recently, how you cope with stressors, and your hopes/goals for therapy. You will also begin to form a connection with your therapist. Your therapist may share information about themself and what you can expect in future sessions.
-
What if I need to cancel?Appointments can be canceled free of charge with more than 24 hours notice to the scheduled appointment. If appointments are canceled with less than 24 hours notice, you will be charged for the full session fee of the appointment.
-
Do you provide religious therapy? No, we are not faith based. While we do not counsel from any particular religious perspective, we are welcoming to people from all spiritual, religious backgrounds, or lack thereof!
-
Can you prescribe medications or complete psych testing? No, our license does not allow us to prescribe medications or complete psych testing. We diagnose and treat many mental health issues and are also able to provide established clients with referrals to trusted providers in the community for these services.
-
How often will we meet and how long will I be in therapy? There is not a definitive answer to this question as each person’s circumstances are unique. Some clients are seen for a few months, while others continue treatment for years. Your therapist will collaborate with you throughout your work together, continuously exploring where you are at in your healing journey and if the current therapeutic work is meeting your needs.
